A full loop of both Sugarloafs.

Our 30 km trail race fills the gap between the short 19 km route and the longer distances. Like the other races in the series you start on the scenic promenade at Bray seafront and take in the challenging climb to the little seaside hill — Bray Head.

The 30 km continues to follow the longer race routes through Belmont, out past both the Little and Great Sugarloaf mountains. After the aid station at Great Sugarloaf (15.3 km) on your return you complete a loop of both of those limestone peaks, then come home to Bray Head via Belmont Estate (water station at 23.4 km).

Most of the trails on the 30 km are hard-packed and rocky, with brief road sections. A map of the route is provided for general information — it is not intended for access. Please do not enter private sections of the route, particularly Belmont Estate and Powerscourt Waterfall, except on permitted public routes or on race day.

There are no intermediary cut-offs. If you feel you cannot complete the full 30 km, you may ask to be moved down to the 19 km after the first descent of Little Sugarloaf (9.4 km). Ask the marshal there to mark your bib as a downgrade. As you approach the finish you will have views across Dublin Bay before a true Irish welcome on Bray seafront.

Checkpoint timings

These are the published 30 km checkpoints. Fastest and slowest columns are pace windows, not extra cut-offs. The only official cut-off is the finish: Saturday 17:00. Yellow marks that close.

Segment gains in the table sum to 1,251 m. There is no checkpoint cut-off on the 30 km — only the Saturday 17:00 finish. The “slowest” column is a planning window from the source table, not permission to finish after 17:00.

No intermediary cut-offs — downgrade at Little Sugarloaf (9.4 km)If you cannot complete the full 30 km, ask the marshal after the first descent of Little Sugarloaf to move you onto the 19 km and mark your bib as a downgrade. Stay on the official line after that. Register for the 30 km.
