WELCOME TO ECOTRAIL WICKLOW 10 KM 'HYBRID' TRAIL RACE!

Our 10 km race is now in it's second year and is the most widely accessible of all the races in our series intended to be a suitable challenge for everyone and get you ready for the longer races in future years! This year's route is slightly expanded (to 10.3 km) with more trail and a few more interesting sections of single track than last year's route. This reduces the amount of tarmac you will run on to roughly 2.4 km out of the 10.3 km - the promenade (out and back) and a short section of quiet road and pavement behind Bray as you make your way to Windgates trailhead.

You begin at the promenade at Bray seafront before climbing up the slopes of the coastal hill Bray Head where you can look out across the Irish Sea. From here you enjoy stunning views of the Irish Sea until a small trail leads you over the secondary Bray summits and down a grassy track to the Cliff Road where you rejoin civilisation for an 800m section of tarmac to the Windgates trailhead that takes you up the second climb of the route - the main Bray path initially before you veer left on grassy and single paths towards Bray. As you contour with the golf club down below to your left, the trail get's narrower and start descending sharply to the town - watch your feet here as the trail is uneven and narrow. A sharp left takes some momentum out of the quick descent before you reach a pleasant grass trail that takes you past the ruined church known locally as 'Raheen-a-Cluig'. Shortly after you emerge at the bottom of the main Bray track and your return to the finish along the promenade.

The 10 km route features a mixture hard-packed trails with 3 short sections of rocky trails and the only tarred sections being the seafront promenade at the beginning and end of the race and the pavement between the first descent and the second climb.

A map of the route is provided for your general information but this map is not intended to be used for access purposes.

Please do not access private sections of the route outside the race.
